10
& 30 Hour Construction Safety Courses Are Becoming Mandatory
in the U.S.
OSHA is working overtime during the busy Construction season
to ensure builders are following proper safety and health standards
for their employees. The Agency is conducting unannounced Saturday
inspections of construction work sites as part of its Summer Weekend
Construction Inspection Program.
OSHA says it has a "vigorous" enforcement program, having
conducted more than 38,000 inspections last year and exceeding
its inspection goals in each of the last seven years. In fiscal
year 2006, the Agency found nearly 84,000 violations of its standards
and regulations. The Summer Weekend Construction Inspection Program
has been very successful since its inception three years ago,
according to the Agency.
The building and construction industry is one of the most dangerous
for employees. The private construction industry accounted for
1,186 fatal work injuries in 2005, the most of any industry sector,
and representing about one out of every five fatal work injuries
in all industries, according to OSHA.
As a result of the many injuries and fatalities which occur within
the construction industry including accidents involving Flaggers
and Spotters near roadways during operation and movement of heavy
earth movement equipment and dump trucks on construction work
sites. Land Developers and Builders are now insisting that their
own personnel and the workers of their building contractors &
subcontractors attend and complete a 10-Hour and/or 30-Hour Construction
Safety & Health Course.
There are many construction, industrial, commercial, and hazardous
waste remediation firms throughout the USA, U.S. Virgin Islands,
Puerto Rico and Guam, that call upon Professional Safety Training
Services (PSTS), Inc. to conduct these Courses, including General
Industry Safety & Health Courses. PSTS, Inc. is located in
Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The 10-Hour Construction Awareness Course is intended to teach
Workers assigned to work on Construction sites, how to be aware
of the many hazards they may encounter while performing work-related
activities.
The 30-Hour Construction Safety Course is intended to train and
educate construction workers in the safe use of hand and power
actuated tools and equipment, how to wear the proper personal
protective equipment, and how to work safely at all times while
performing any type of construction-related activities.
Upon successful completion of each program, the attendees will
receive a Course Completion Certificate from Professional Safety
Training Services, Inc. and a Laminated Wallet-Size Certification
Card prepared by OSHA. They will then be in compliance with applicable
OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Standards. OSHA looks favorably upon construction
firms that have their workers trained in accordance with the Federal
Construction and General Industry Standards.
Professional Safety Training Services, Inc. has a bilingual Spanish
speaking Instructor on their staff that can teach any Safety-Related
